Legislative Process Webinar - June 15, 2009

“Federal and State Legislative Process for Suicide Prevention Practitioners” was presented on Monday, June 15, 2009, 3:30-4:30pm Eastern Time. The webinar was co-hosted by SPAN USA, a division of AFSP, and SPRC.

This is the first in a series of two webinars designed to build state and local leaders’ capacity to sustain programs and stay abreast of national and state policy advancements.  This webinar focused on building suicide prevention practitioners’ understanding of the legislative process, so that they can be better equipped to support initiatives in their own states, and advocate for change at the national level.  The webinar was presented by SPAN USA/AFSP staff: Brian Altman, Director of Public Policy and Program Development, who provided insight on the federal process, while Jason H. Padgett, Director of Community and Grassroots Outreach, outlined state legislative processes.
