Linda Rouhani's Story

Linda's Story

On June 24, 2004 my family’s life changed dramatically.  My 44 year old brother, William Christopher Walton killed himself.  It is always tragic when you lose a loved one but when you lose someone to suicide those left behind never quit questioning themselves if they could have said something that would have prevented it from happening.  And the tragic fact that your loved one was so despondent that death was his answer is just so hard to bear.

The year before Chris died he received his law degree.  He was one of those people that could do “anything” he wanted to - he was so intelligent and talented. The picture above is of his graduation day – one of the happiest days of his life.  He passed the bar exam shortly afterward and at the time of his death he was in the process of writing safety initiatives for Burlington Northern Railroad.

American Suicide Prevention Foundation and organizations like it have shown my family we are not alone.  Chris left behind two children, his parents and an assortment of relatives and friends who will never forget him.
