Field Liaison Program

EXPECTATIONS OF
EACH SPAN USA FIELD LIAISON

Stay Informed
  • Subscribe to and consistently use the SPAN USA Legislative Action Center - and encourage and support others in your district to do the same.
  • Read and respond to SPAN USA updates on public policy priorities, and visit the SPAN USA Web site to keep abreast of the latest research, tools, and other information relevant to the fight against suicide. Scan your local publications for new developments and outreach opportunities in your community;
  • Be aware of resources for survivors and serve as a link to help locate local resources online and nearest their community;
  • Be familiar with the Field Liaison Guide as well as updates provided by SPAN USA.
Provide Updates
  • Let SPAN USA know when you have spoken to a reporter; had a meeting with your local, state, or federal elected officials; or held a local/state event that focused on suicide prevention.  Keeping us informed on your progress will help us provide you with better support, advise other field liaisons, and shape our regional and national strategies.
  • Inform SPAN USA of conferences, seminars, etc. that are being conducted by or in conjunction with the Field Liaison.
  • Upon request, provide SPAN USA with an active list of community contacts.
